1968 pontiac firebird the emerald dragon "emnerarudodorago” overview: recovered from tokyo japan in 2009, the ‘emerald dragon’ is completely restored to its original condition. the ‘emerald dragon’ is an outstanding example of the american muscle car, sharing its roots with the chevrolet camaro. with the current owner looking to start the next car project, ‘the emerald dragon’ is ready for its new owner! Pontiac introduced the firebird in february 23, 1967 to compete with the chevrolet camaro and ford mustang. firebird was marketed as an upscale pony car to complement the already popular gto. although the firebird is less well-known than the camaro, its unique styling cues and numerous engine options made it quite the performer on the street. Many firebirds look great, but few are true classics. the ‘emerald dragon’ is a fully functional classic piece of americana. everything works, including the wipers, stereo, air-conditioning, bright beams, gauges . . . Even the cigarette lighter. total turn-key. Be/indmrlgh8i8 firebird 350: this model was the first in the line of v-8s, hence its namesake. The 350 featured a new v8 loosely based on the previous years 326. The new block featured a larger displacement due to an increase in bore size from 3. 72 to 3. 88. With a 2bbl carb and 9. 2:1 compression the new v8 made 265bhp @ 4,600 rpm. This model can be identified by the "350" emblems located on the rear edge of the hood bulge. Interestingly this option was cheaper than the sprint 6 package. When looking at other firebirds, beware that rear-spoilers, jacked tires and race center stripping are after-market and never installed on original firebirds. also, many sprint h. Firebirds originally equipped with in-line 6-cylinder ohc engines, or 350 v-8 ho models, are now equipped with 400 hp after-market engines, yet retain the sprint and h. Stripping no longer reflecting an original configuration. often these are used to ‘dress up the car’ while masking the car’s original design. but ‘the emerald dragon’, less the visible kicker speakers, reflects a true firebird 350 model sold in 1968. even the kicker speakers can be replaced with oer speaker grills included with this car. This 1968 pontiac firebird is a pleasure to drive. with front oer disc-style brakes, great audio, freshened paint work (2014 and 2018) and only 2,492 miles since restoration, this car is an original 1968 ‘bird ready to roll!
